Wren takes its name from the Pacific Wren — a small bird whose voice carries far beyond what its size suggests. This desk is built on the same idea: a compact footprint with real presence, made for the desk work of an ordinary day — mail, bills, notes, or just a place to sit and think.

Inspired by the Danish modern tradition — and by Arne Vodder's work in particular — Wren is sized for the home rather than the executive suite. The legs are lathe-turned and the aprons are housed directly into the round leg shape before stepping back to a mortise-and-tenon joint inside, a detail that required building a custom router jig to cut cleanly. The result is joinery with no visible gap where round meets square, solid and precise without calling attention to itself.

The front apron and drawer fronts carry a partial ellipse, inset in a deeper tone of the same white oak used throughout the piece. The color shift comes from ammonia fuming rather than staining — a process that reacts with the wood's natural tannins and penetrates far deeper than a surface stain. The ellipse does double duty as the drawer pulls, so the design element is also the function.

On the right side, a bank of three drawers appears to float — attached from beneath the desktop with no visible support from the ground. It's a detail borrowed from Vodder's own work, and it's what gives an otherwise simple desk its quiet moment of surprise.

Rast — Danish for "a rest" — grew out of Vandre, built for a different spot in the house: the kitchen counter, where life happens. Morning coffee, a quick snack, a glass of wine and conversation during meal prep. It's a stool built for that kind of use, with a Scandinavian-inspired design that holds its own in a room.

The frame is solid ash with 1 3/8" legs, giving it a heavier, more planted stance than a typical bar stool. The front and rear stretchers carry a gentle downward curve, dropping to 24.5" at the center and rising to 25" at the seat corners. Each stretcher doubles as a footrest, and because the stool is reversible, it works facing either direction — sit on either side and your feet land in the right spot. The footrests are joined to the legs with a housed and haunched bridal joint we developed specifically for this application, built to take the weight and wear of daily use. Low side rails, joined with traditional mortise-and-tenon, tie the base together and add a second layer of visual structure beneath the seat.

The seat itself is hand-woven Danish cord, offering a supportive give that only improves with age. Each stool is built one at a time in our Pacific Northwest studio using traditional joinery and a durable, repairable finish — made to be used daily, admired up close, and passed on.

A slab table starts with a single piece of wood — one continuous surface, grain running end to end, every figure and crack exactly where nature put it.

The table featured here is eleven feet long, four feet wide, four inches thick, in locally sourced Pacific Northwest big leaf maple. Custom-welded steel base with oak support members, C-channels inset into the underside for long-term stability, and dovetail keys inlaid across the splits to keep them from spreading. Cracks are filled with clear epoxy — not as a river table effect, but as a functional choice for a flat, cleanable surface.

Not everyone wants filled cracks. The splits, knot holes, and live edge are often exactly what makes a slab table so imperfectly perfect. I can work either way — we'll figure out what's right for you.
